Key Responsibilities

  • Source fresh-cut flowers from Colombian growers based on customer demand and market trends.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with flower farms, growers, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, product availability, payment terms, and supply agreements.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders while ensuring timely supplier confirmations.
  • Monitor production schedules and coordinate with growers to ensure on-time product availability.
  • Work closely with logistics and operations teams to coordinate harvest schedules, transportation, and exports.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on flower quality, pricing, reliability, communication, and service.
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend purchasing strategies to minimize shortages, excess product, and waste.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, seasonal availability, pricing fluctuations, production changes, and new floral varieties.
  • Identify alternative farms, flower varieties, or products when requested items are unavailable.
  • Resolve procurement and supply-chain issues quickly while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier information, purchase orders, pricing, and reports using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives within the procurement and supply-chain process.

Required Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in procurement, purchasing, flower buying, sourcing, or supply-chain coordination.
  • Experience within the Colombian fresh-cut flower industry is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of flower varieties, grades, colors, stem lengths, seasonality, production cycles, and post-harvest processes.
  • Experience working directly with Colombian flower growers, farms, exporters, or agricultural suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and purchasing accuracy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP, procurement, purchasing, or inventory-management software is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience purchasing roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, tropical flowers, greenery, fillers, or mixed bouquets.
  • Familiarity with flower production and purchasing across Colombian growing regions.
  • Knowledge of flower export processes and international logistics.
  • Knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting, purchasing, and demand management.
  • Experience supporting high-volume floral holidays and seasonal purchasing periods.
  • Experience working with U.S. or international customers is a plus.
  • Established relationships with Colombian flower growers and suppliers are highly valued.
