Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for fresh-cut flowers and related products.
  • Source and negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements with domestic and international growers and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with farms, growers, exporters, and strategic vendors.
  • Monitor market trends, seasonality, product availability, and pricing fluctuations to support purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Inventory, and Operations teams to forecast demand and align procurement plans with business needs.
  • Coordinate closely with Logistics, Import, and Customs teams to ensure timely and efficient product arrivals.
  • Manage inventory levels while minimizing product waste and shrink.
  • Evaluate supplier performance using quality, service, cost, and delivery KPIs.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to strengthen the company’s sourcing network.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, phytosanitary requirements, and industry certifications.
  • Manage procurement budgets and continuously identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Analyze procurement performance and prepare reports to support strategic business decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Purchasing.
  • Previous experience purchasing perishable products; fresh-cut flowers, produce, or other fresh agricultural products is highly preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Experience working with international vendors and global supply chains.
  • Knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting, and cost analysis.
  • Understanding of import processes, Incoterms, and international logistics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent English required.
  • Spanish proficiency is highly preferred due to frequent interaction with suppliers throughout Latin America.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within the fresh-cut flower industry.
  • Knowledge of flower varieties, grading standards, vase life, and production seasonality.
  • Experience sourcing products from Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, or other international floral markets.
  • Familiarity with holiday production planning, including Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
  • Experience developing procurement KPIs and supplier scorecards.
  • Previous leadership experience managing procurement teams or cross-functional projects.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to visit growers, suppliers, and industry events.
