Location: Ecuador (Remote/On-site as applicable)
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $30,000 USD annually (paid in USD)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to support the sourcing and purchasing of fresh-cut flowers in a fast-paced, export-driven environment. This role works closely with senior buyers and internal teams to ensure product availability, quality standards, and timely execution of purchasing activities, particularly during peak floral seasons.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure fresh-cut flowers from local farms and suppliers across Ecuador
- Maintain strong communication with growers regarding availability, pricing, and production cycles
- Execute and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment
- Monitor daily farm availability, harvest schedules, and market trends
- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure proper handling, cold chain compliance, and on-time shipments
- Support quality control processes to ensure flowers meet required specifications before export
- Collaborate with sales teams to align purchasing with customer demand and key programs
- Assist in planning for peak seasons such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day
- Track supplier performance and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining product quality
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Agribusiness, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain (floral industry preferred)
- Understanding of fresh-cut flowers, varieties, and post-harvest handling is a strong plus
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with farms or agricultural suppliers is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or ERP systems
- Strong communication skills in Spanish and working proficiency in English

- Experience in export logistics and cold chain management
- Familiarity with seasonal demand planning in the floral industry
- Ability to work under pressure during peak seasons
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Compensation & Contract Details
