I will outline some of the challenges but you (Pam) have helped Chrysal build our team. I joined Chrysal in July 2023 and on the first day knew I would have 3 employees aging out that needed to be replaced.

  • Seasonal Variability: One of the biggest challenges in the floral business is dealing with seasonal fluctuations in demand. During peak seasons like Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, teams may be overwhelmed with orders, while off-peak periods can be relatively quiet. To overcome this challenge, I’ve implemented flexible staffing strategies, such as hiring temporary workers during busy periods and cross-training employees to handle multiple tasks. This ensures that we can scale our workforce up or down as needed to meet customer demand effectively.
  • High Turnover Rates: by focusing on a positive work environment where employees feel valued and supported. This includes offering competitive wages which is not easy, providing opportunities for advancement, and recognition to celebrate employee achievements.
  • Skill Diversification: Building a successful floral team requires a diverse range of skills, including , customer service, and logistical expertise. Finding individuals who possess all of these skills can be challenging, especially in smaller markets. To overcome this obstacle, prioritized training and development programs are needed to help employees enhance their skills and expand their knowledge. We are lucky to have a team in Holland and Dennis here in Florida. This includes providing hands-on workshops, and encouraging mentorship opportunities within the team. By investing in skill development, we’ve been able to build a well-rounded team capable of delivering exceptional service to our customers.
